Fumio was having a tough time dealing with his Tourette syndrome and it was beginning to take its toll on his schoolwork and home life. His tics were becoming increasing noticeable and physical violent despite his best efforts to control them. His mother didn't like the idea of prescription medication, but she knew that something had to be done...so, she turned to IM training. Check out Fumio's story here.
It's June and the weather is heating up. The kids are out of school. It's time for vacation, cookouts and a new Provider of the Month! This June, we chose a wonderful Occupational Therapist from Texas, Mary Pat Bragers. Mary has been working with children who have sensory integration issues and developmental delays for years, and we are happy to have her in our network. Check out her story here.
May is another big month. The weather has finally turned warm for most of the country, school is winding down and it's time to draw attention to some serious issues. This month is Better Speech and Hearing, Healthy Vision, Stroke Awareness, Huntington's Awareness, Mobility Awareness, Physical Fitness/Sports and Older Americans Month. Whoa! That's a lot. This month, we had to pick one to spotlight our wonderful Providers in that arena, and the winner was Healthy Vision. We work with a lot of amazing Optometrist, and Dr. Rakov is no different. She has been working with IM for years and was one of our first advocates for visual training. Check out all of the amazing work she does to help people overcome difficulty through vision therapy!
We always talk about our success stories, and for good reason. We recently had a wonderful woman named Rosita who saw the success her husband had with IM training for Parkinson's disease, and she wanted to try it for herself. So, with the Masters now behind us, we wanted to share Rosita's golf gains with IM-Home®. After all, you don't have to be 21 to dominate the links. Our Providers are always working hard to treat individuals looking to improve various deficits and conditions, and some who ar just looking for an edge in daily life.
Maggie is a beautiful young girl that has Cerebral palsy, but she wasn't going to let that hold her back. Nope! She wanted to move...and that is where IM training was able to help. Although movement may initially be difficult for children with CP, IM training has been shown to help advance PT and OT goals by allowing users to work on flexibility, strength and endurance during traditional therapy sessions. So that is just what her OT and PT did, and now Maggie is walking unassisted for the first time. Read more of Maggie's success story here.
March is a big time month. March gets to kick off Spring, and it has a major holiday too...sure, St. Patrick's Day is major. If you read our last blog post (which we know you did), you also know it is home to a whopping six awareness months that affect our Provider network. Wow! Big time! So we needed a big time Provider to rock out March with us. Drumroll please... This month we chose Todd Sullivan, a fantastic Physical Therapist who works tirelessly to help children overcome everything from developmental delays to brain injuries to conditions like cerebral palsy and down syndrome. Check out his profile to find out more about how he and the folks at Blake Medical Center use IM training to help children succeed.
