Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists

Expressive and receptive language deficits leave patients unable to communicate and socially isolated. Deficits in attention, processing, and executive functioning further inhibit communication skills and contribute to difficulty with learning and academic achievement in the pediatric population and with functional independence and safety in adults.

Timing in the brain (or temporal processing) is critical to speech, language, and cognitive functioning.  It is the basis for attention, working memory, and processing speed, all of which are critical for auditory processing, linguistic development, and reading achievement in children and for successful community reintegration of adults following acquired brain injury. IM addresses the foundational skill of timing in a way that is rewarding, engaging, and easily integrated into the traditional SLP service delivery model.

Once patients are engaged, the feedback features of the IM are introduced and they begin taking steps towards improving:

  • Attention/Concentration
  • Executive Functions
  • Working Memory
  • Cognitive Speed
  • Speech and Language Skills
  • Self-Monitoring & Self-Control
  • Motor Planning & Sequencing
