IM training and ALS: It’s all about maintaining function

At Interactive Metronome®, we work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. Some are looking for an edge on the golf course and others, well, others are looking to hold off the devastating effects of life threatening conditions. Larry has ALS, but he hasn't let it rob him of his joy and his spirit. We are happy to be part of Larry's treatment and we want to help spread the word about ALS and how to help put an end to this horrible disease.

Billy comes out of his shell with IM training

Billy is an amazing young man who has autism. He is awesome at school, but was really struggling with motor planning and daily tasks, such as dressing and bathing. When he came back to occupational therapy after a few years off, his therapist knew just how to speed up his training plan--Interactive Metronome® training! In just a few weeks, Billy was laughing, playing and smiling again. Check out Billy's story here.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Yep, we are on board. It took us a little time to get everybody together in the office and get it filmed, but we took the challenge. ALS is a serious condition that affects thousands of people; striking with no rhyme or reason, and often with no warning. Help us defeat ALS one cold shower at a time!

October is National Physical Therapy Month

Anyone who has suffered a serious injury or illness understands the importance of physical therapy. Whether the aim is simply to regain flexibility, alleviate pain or to relearn major motor functions, a qualified therapist is required to develop a plan and keep patients safe through this painful process. Therapists must act as a healthcare provider, trainer and motivator in an effort to keep patients on course and safe, either from themselves or a degenerative condition. In addition to restoring mobility, flexibility, balance and coordination, physical therapy (PT) significantly improves overall health and fitness; in fact, one of the main goals of therapists is injury prevention, not simply rehabing current injuries.
