Decoding Data: Statistical Analysis from the Pathways Center Shows Improvements Using IM

White Paper

Keywords

Pediatric, Language & Literacy Skills, Motor Skills, Sensory Processing, Speech

This study sought to gauge the long-term effects of Interactive Metronome (IM) training across a wide range of functional areas.

The 13 participants were clients of the Pathways Center, and the outcomes were measured immediately after the IM training, as well as at 3 and 6 months post-training.

The assessments conducted included the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (third edition), Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Sensory Profile – Care Giver Questionnaire, Interactive Metronome Parent Questionnaire, Self Perception Survey, Handwriting Evaluation Tool, The Listening Test, and Draw A Person.

The results of the study were quite promising.

Statistically significant improvements were observed in balance, bilateral coordination, handwriting, sensory processing, attention, behavior, and key cognitive skills necessary for concept development and reasoning.

Moreover, the gains achieved through the IM training largely persisted even six months post-training, underscoring the enduring impact of this approach.
