What made you look into IM? I read a book over a weekend titled Conversations With Neil’s Brain about epilepsy and brain surgery. There was a chapter on how we sequentially process information. Without even knowing exactly what I was getting into I came in and ordered IM the following week and have never looked back.
Tell us about your business (patients served, size of practice, services offered, how often you use IM and IM-Home in daily practice): I am a developmentally minded optometrist and see the value in treating the whole patient, regardless of their entering diagnosis. This comprehensive approach includes their motor planning system and skills. IM dovetails wonderfully with the tenants of  this kind of optometry across all age groups.
IM-Home incorporation and use: I started using IM-Home version 2.0 when it came out. It has allowed my office to reach a broader range of patients in a cost effective and clinically effective way. I often incorporate IM-Home with other modalities to increase gains.
Favorite thing about IM? I love the fact that you can measure motor planning skills down to a millisecond level. There is nothing else like it and it a robust and powerful clinical tool.
Favorite thing about IM-Home? Cost Effective. Clinically Effective. Ease of use, once you teach the patient the importance of what exactly a guide sound is.
What marketing methods have you found successful, what ones have failed? I’ve had the most success with word of mouth referrals. Most of the public has no idea what developmental optometrists do (it’s been around since the 1930’s) and that such a thing as optometric vision therapy even exists. We still have a long way to go.
Tips for other IM Providers: To boost better outcomes with your clients and add revenue to your bottom line consider adding IM-Home to your practice.
