Our January Provider of the Month: Lisa and Ross Pearson from Accomplished Learning
Names: Lisa & Ross Pearson
Facility: Accomplished Learning
Years with IM: Providers Since 2008
Location: Langley, BC – Canada
Population Served: Children who are struggling in school, those diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and other developmental deficits.
About Us: Accomplished Learning learning is private practice and we specialize in helping kids who need more than just tutoring.
Marketing Methods: Google Adwords and word of mouth
Our IM-Home use: After getting comfortable with the Pro we were ready for the IM-Home. So far we have had a total 15 IM-Home patients. We currently have 8 IM-Home clients undergoing treatment simultaneously. After training each in office with the IMPro the transition to IM-Home was an easy sale.
What we charge: We are a cash pay facility. Our fees for IM at the office and IM-Home are the same.
Average time spent with IM-Home clients: We spend a total of 10 minutes a day (50 minutes a week) managing each IM-Home client. They still receive the same amount of IM training as they would in the clinic. It’s pretty amazing to be able to see the same gains as in the clinic but we are able to help more at a time!
Our most recent IM-Home success story:“Annette”, age 7, came in for help with school work – but noticed she also had coordination issues. She would fall over when trying to stand and tap on one toe. “Annette” completed two protocols with us and has started the third one. Her mom recently reported that on their recent trip to the beach she had never seen her run onto the sand and into water – before she would trip and fall. Now she can do hand and toe for 200-300 reps w/o falling over. She is up to C’s and B’s when before she was D’s and not even completing or turning in assignments. Mom is tickled pink! She has been set up with a maintenance plan where she does 3 times a week for 15 minutes a day for a total of 90 sessions; 30 weeks. Although “Annette” came in for academic improvement her global development has also improved!
Favorite thing about IM-Home: It can be done anywhere, anytime with significant improvements in as little as 3 weeks. Protocols are easy to set up and allows for flexibility with treatment.
Tips for other IM Providers:
Be a cheerleader for the kid! Send them an email when you see slight improvement – hooray on your first burst! Use the IMH message system and have the kid see your message. This helps to keep them motivated. Also, in office tricks for motivation is to include a treasure box with prizes. We encourage parents to also keep them motivated by rewards while at home – dollar store items, books, or even a special ice cream treat.
