Meet August’s Provider of the Month: Angie Cilluffo

Name: Angie Cilluffo

Type of Professional: Educator, Orton-Gillingham Reading Instructor

Years using IM: 10

Facility Name: Peak Performance Learning Center

Location: Greensboro, NC

Population Served: I specialize in K-8 evidence-based reading and evidence-based cursive handwriting instruction.

I also serve students and adults who want to improve their overall focus and timing for academic, athletic or artistic (music and dance) performance through IM training.

What made you look into IM? After my son took IM, I was sold. My son’s reading (he is dyslexic) and math improved, his long distance running time improved and I saw some nice changes in his behavior.

Tell us about your business (patients served, size of practice, services offered, how often you use IM and IM-Home in daily practice): The largest group of clients that I serve is elementary school students who come to me for one-on-one evidence-based reading instruction and/or evidence-based cursive handwriting instruction. Then, I have students and adults who come to me just for IM training to improve focus, timing and mental processing.

What is your favorite thing about Interactive Metronome®? And IM-Home (if used)? The results my clients receive every time from IM training. Also, IM is easy to use, adaptable, durable and has stable software. I especially appreciate the great IM technical and training support.

What other modalities do you use in your practice that you like to combine with IM? I like to incorporate IM training with evidence-based reading instruction. Students tell me they feel they are reading faster…and they are.

What marketing methods have you found successful, what ones have failed: While I do advertise in local parent and health magazines, I find that the best marketing results come by referrals from past IM clients, and the IM Provider webpage.

Tip for other IM Providers: Make it fun. The children look forward to earning prizes during IM training. I see them examining the prizes I keep on a shelf in the office, and they will often ask me to set a prize aside for them until they have earned enough points to take it home.

Anything else: Don’t forget yourself when it comes to IM training. Every year I give myself a booster shot of IM to stay mentally fit, and to help me keep up with my young clients.
