Time Doc
Reading Inbox
 |
This new feature of
Tic Toc Talk: The IQ brain
clock is the
Time Doc Reading Inbox. I will add a link section to
the blog home page. I will routinely post a link to a
PDF file that includes the title, author, and abstract
of the "I wish I could read" material. Readers can then
skim the manuscripts and see what I'm interested in
reading. However, the REAL goal behind this
feature is to pique the interest of some readers...so
much so that they will ask me for a copy of an
article (or two, or.....)...and I will provide a copy in
exchange for brief guest blog posts regarding the
manuscripts.
Any takers? Please contact me at iap@earthlink.net
if you are interested.

IM Pediatric Best
Practices Course is hitting the road!
Join us for a one-day workshop
leading to the new Interactive Metronome Advanced Pediatric
Designation (IMAP). Optimal treatment outcomes are more easily
attained when there are appropriate accommodations for age,
developmental level, group dynamics and environmental factors.
The purpose of this training manual is to advance the clinical
application of Interactive Metronome (IM) within the field of
pediatric practice. This course will cover individualized
clinical application of the IM from infancy through age 18.
Participants will learn the skills necessary to adapt to often
fluctuating clinical presentations with individualized treatment
approaches that are engaging and motivating to the pediatric
client. This course welcomes OT/COTAs, SLP/SLPAs, PT/PTAs, ATCs,
Educators, Licensed Rehabilitation, Medical, and Mental Health
Professionals, Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Psychologists, and
Chiropractic Care Professionals. Course participants must have
completed the basic Interactive Metronome Certification Course
prior to undertaking this advanced training.
*Contact hours are offered pending successful completion of a
written exam at the end of the course.

Dear Mary,
You did a TREMENDOUS job on the peds manual!!! I LOVED it!!! All
the video clips, and the way you wrote things (as if
you were talking to me) were great and kept me going through the
whole thing!!! I liked the resources in the back as well, very
helpful. But actually seeing treatment is what people love to
see the most and you provided a lot - and the awesome thing was
that even if I were a PT or SLP, I think I would come
away feeling the same way. I have to say I went right to the
Dollar Tree and picked up some new squishy frogs to hop from
switch to switch, some foam football "missles", some colorful
bats, some PVC pipes and of course a nice roll of colored
tape!!!
Wow, some of those environments in the videos got me thinking! The one with the cute little
girl who was showing you what she made up to race against
grandpa - that house was so noisy! I
could see Grandpa, the TV was on, obviously someone was visiting
that you knew too, donuts kept appearing as if sent from above -
it looked like a BLAST!!! Also loved it when kids were fighting
to find space on the foot switch!!! Too funny!!!
Thank you Mary for doing such a wonderful job, for making it
fresh, and for keeping it interesting.

Testimonial
"I am so very excited that I am just about to pop! Do
you recall my running narrative of the student who
exploded frequently with me when we did the IM pilot
study at our school? I carried him through both phases
of our pilot study and it was close to a nightmare for
both of us. He then continued with another of our IM
providers (Deb) during that year's summer school, and
was given Barton Reading/Spelling training. We began to
see significant changes in his ability to read. Deb
also did several rounds with him when he transitioned to
middle school, and now his current SLP continued IM. I
am not certain of the length of time, but she did an
IM case study on him and had outstanding things
to report behaviorally, communicatively, and
academically. Deb & I read an IM Case Study that has
just been written about him. We both cried!!!!!!!!
In the fall, I received a sweet thank you
note from Tyler (still with several misspellings - which
I have included), but with very legible handwriting.
Prior to this, it was impossible to read anything he
wrote.
Der Mrs. Snowden,
Thank you for the help from spderech
form first grade through fifth grade. That helped me in
the world. Also you are the bost spdesh teacher.
Your student, Tyler
I actually cried when I got this letter
from him because he had been so volatile in all
the years I worked with him, and to have him call me the
"bost" (which I interpreted as BEST), touched the
deepest parts of my heart."
